Glenmarks Clinic
Evidence-based treatment for lasting well-being
Glenmarks Clinic has a multi-disciplinary team that applies evidence-based practices to provide personalised care tailored to the diverse needs of each individual seeking support.
Our network
- Psychiatrists: We have some of the leading psychiatrists in South Africa on our team! Together, they evaluate, assess and diagnose patients. They are also responsible for prescribing medication to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. Part of their strategy is also to run psycho-education group sessions discussing topics such as the biology of mental health, diagnosis-related issues, and medication compliance, which has been a favourite amongst many of our patients.
- Psychologists: Our psychologists diligently ensure that each patient’s treatment program includes evidence-based practices and innovative therapies such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices to promote overall healing and well-being.
- Nursing Staff: Glenmarks nursing staff are trained in the treatment of psychiatric conditions and naturally offer compassionate care. They also help plan and implement individualised care plans and provide continuous tailored health education, risk management, and support throughout the treatment journey.
- Occupational Therapists: Our OTs are assigned to assess every patient individually for groups, including interactive psychosocial and psychoeducational groups that provide insight into their diagnoses and relevant practical life skills. Patients are offered leisure explorative groups, which allow for creative expression, promote relaxation, and serve as a coping mechanism.
- Clinical Pharmacist: We have an on-site clinical pharmacist who specialises in medication, including modes of action, side effects, and clinically significant drug interactions. This key person also leads our antibiotic stewardship program, working closely with psychiatrists to enhance clinical outcomes and minimise harm through better antibiotic prescribing.
- Social Workers: Our social workers form an integral part of our team and conduct assessments of patients’ physical and mental needs to provide effective financial management guidance and family and community support. This team also provides family counselling sessions to strengthen family relationships, improve communication, and foster understanding. Additionally, our social workers help place vulnerable patients in specialised facilities when needed and coordinate closely with their families.
- Physiotherapist: A physiotherapist is assigned when muscle tension or pain management is required.
- Dietician: Our expert dietician plays a pivotal role in the nutritional management of medical diagnoses such as diabetes or cholesterol. Encouragement for healthy eating is also provided to general patients to improve health and boost moods.
- General Practitioners: We refer patients to a GP when they display a minor ailment or to assist with risk management of newly diagnosed chronic illnesses.
Our multi-disciplinary team works together to provide comprehensive care, giving patients the best possible chance of recovery and reducing the likelihood of re-admission.
